Privacy policy

Applies to the EinkReader Android app (package app.einkreader). Last updated: 19 October 2026.

Short version

All your books stay locally on your device. Syncing is optional and goes only through your own personal Google Drive; there is no other copy and no server of ours. EinkReader does not collect, sell or share your personal data. It has no ads and no analytics, and the developer has no server that receives your data.

Data stored on your device

The books you add, their covers, your reading positions and your display settings are stored only in the app's private storage on your device. They are removed when you delete a book or uninstall the app. The app asks for no access to your photos, contacts, location, microphone or camera. Books are added through the system file picker or the “Open with” command, so the app reads only files you choose.

Optional Google Drive sync

If you choose to sign in with Google, the app uses your Google account only for syncing between your own devices:

Google handles this data under Google's privacy policy. EinkReader's use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Optional donations

The app can offer an optional donation. The payment is handled entirely by Google Play: the app and the developer do not see or store your card or payment details, and the developer receives only Google's payout statements. Nothing in the app depends on a donation.

Network use

The only network connections the app makes are to Google, for the optional sync and the optional donation described above. Without signing in, the app works fully offline.

Children

The app is a general-purpose reader and is not directed at children; it collects no data from anyone.
